Volunteers Needed

The PC currently have vacancies for councillor roles. While any and all volunteers are welcome, we are particularly in need of people with interest or experience in finance, planning and filling in forms for grant applications.

Anyone can stand as a councillor and like a choir, success comes from blending different voices. The PC is the first rung on the ladder of local government and it is a small but vital way of having authentic local voices heard at higher levels of government. Without it, there is no way to shape the village we live in

Without new members, the Parish Council could become inquorate. In plain english, that means not having enough people present and so unable to make any official decisions. So that means not being able to oppose planning applications for huge developers, unable to agree to maintain the playgrounds, down to smaller issues like buying new dog poo bins, or getting streetlights fixed.

FILLING OF CASUAL VACANCIES ON GREAT CHESTERFORD PARISH COUNCIL

Notice is hereby given that vacancies have occurred in the office of Parish Councillor for the above Parish arising from the resignations of Simon Cleary and David Hall.

An election to fill the vacancies will be held if notice in writing of a request for such an election is made by ten Local Government electors for the electoral area* and received by the Proper Officer, C/o Electoral Services, Uttlesford District Council, Council Offices, London Road, Saffron Walden, Essex CB11 4ER, by not later than Tuesday 9 August.

If an election is not requested by ten Local Government electors, the

vacancies will be filled by the Parish Council as soon as practicable after the

expiry of the date referred to above.
*if the parish is warded, the 10 signatories all need to be from the parish ward where the vacancy has arisen.
